Dear Mr Davey,
I was extremely pleased to meet you at the Jalsa Salana this year where you acknowledged our long ties of friendship. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community always extends a hand of friendship and forever upholds it. I was even further pleased hearing your remarks at our Jalsa in which you stated that you and your Government are very concerned by the situation in Syria. At that time you also requested for my advice.
Whether the issue relates to Syria or to any other country, the message of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is always the same – that peace, security and brotherhood should be promoted at all times. You will have heard us repeating this message on numerous occasions at our Peace Symposiums and Conventions.
In the prevailing situation in Syria, the major powers such as the United Kingdom, the United States and Russia have now agreed to desist from taking immediate military action and to resolve this issue through diplomacy instead. In light of this, my advice is that this is the correct and wise course of action, because it appears that the situation in Syria is different from other countries. Certainly, military intervention would not only affect the region, but could in fact engulf the entire world into a world war.
It is my prayer that all governments should act with the utmost patience and tolerance. The Syrian crisis should be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic efforts in a manner through which the respect of the major powers and their positive influence to establish peace on the world should remain evident. I also hope and pray that the Syrian Government accepts and abides by these good recommendations and does not become negatively influenced by its ego.
May God the Almighty enable for this crisis to be resolved through mutual co-operation in accordance with the current diplomatic efforts.
