Hadhrat Maulana Abdur Raheem Dard(ra) (1894-1955) was a Companion of the Promised Messiah(as). He was the first Imam of the Fazl Mosque, the first Mosque in London, built in 1924. He served as Private Secretary to Hadhrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih II(ra) from 1920-1924. He played a pivotal role in the history of Pakistan by convincing Muhammad Ali Jinnah to return to India from London and resume leadership of Indian Muslims, which ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan. Mr Jinnah said: ‘The eloquent persuasion of the Imam left me no way of escape.’ (see The Sunday Times, London, April 1933.)
