This is truly a remarkable and newsworthy item. For the first time in history, a Te Reo Mauri version of the Holy Qur’an, now known in Maori as Karanu Tapu, is available to the Maoris, through the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The Maori people form roughly 15% of the population of New Zealand.
Mr. Shakeel Ahmad Munir, an Ahmadi resident of New Zealand who learnt the Maori language and then set about this enormous task, spent 20 years to complete this translation. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, the worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, personally gifted a copy of the translation to the Maori King. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has now translated the Holy Qur’an into more than 70 languages of the world.
The Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa 1400 years ago as a universal message for all peoples, nations and races. This translation of the Holy Qur’an enables for the True Message of God to become accessible to another section of the world community.
