Will Humans Ever Live on Another Planet?

With the rapid advancement of technology and major developments in space exploration, there has been widespread discussion as to whether the endeavour for humans to populate another planet will ever be successful. The likes of Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, are certainly vying to make that concept a reality. But will it actually happen before human civilisation is no more? A person once asked His Holiness (aba) about the likelihood of humans living on another planet.
His Holiness (aba) replied:
‘Allah knows best. There is life on other planets, if not on the planets known to us, then perhaps in some other solar system. There are other galaxies as well in this vast universe. So, it’s possible that it does happen, but Allah knows best. There certainly must be life, and humans might reach there, but up until now, it is just speculation. All the requirements that the body needs will have to be met. For example, the body needs oxygen, so it will have to be seen whether the required amounts of oxygen are present; whether the required gravitational force to be able to remain grounded is present, unlike the moon where if you took one step, you would move a distance of three miles without even realising. You would be trying to go to one room, but you’ll take one step and end up outside the home. So ultimately, Allah the Almighty knows best. Under these circumstances [where the requirements are not present], our bodies would not be able to survive there.’[1]
