One of the allegations raised by the non-Ahmadi Muslims is that the Ahmadi Muslims deny the Holy Prophet (sa) as the Seal of Prophets. Nothing could be further from the truth. Not a single Ahmadi Muslim denies that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) is the Seal of Prophets. In fact, a person cannot be an Ahmadi Muslim, until they believe wholeheartedly, that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) is the Seal of the Prophets.

The Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) writes:

‘The charge advanced against me and my Jama‘at [Community], that we do not believe in the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as the Seal of Prophets, is altogether false. The strength, certainty, comprehension and insight with which we acknowledge and believe in the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as the Seal of the Prophets, cannot even be dreamed of by the other Muslims; they do not have the capacity to comprehend the reality and the mystery comprised in the Seal of Prophethood. They have merely heard an expression from their ancestors but they are unaware of its importance and do not know what it signifies and what is meant by believing in it. But we believe with full comprehension—and God Almighty knows this well—that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Seal of the Prophets. God Almighty has disclosed the reality of the Seal of Prophethood in such a manner that we derive special delight from its contemplation which cannot be conceived of by anyone except those who have drunk deep at this fountain.’[1]

Ahmadi Muslims believe in every single verse of the Holy Qur’an and believe that not even a dot can be changed. Regarding this, the Promised Messiah (as) writes:

‘There can be no new divine law. The Holy Qur’an is the last and perfect book, it does not admit of any change, not even of a dot or a mark’[2]

In a Friday sermon, the Fifth Caliph and Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba) stated:

‘It is us Ahmadis, who understand the true meaning and spirit of Khatam-un-Nabiyeen [Seal of Prophets] and it is Ahmadis, who are publishing God Almighty’s declaration of the Holy Prophet (sa) being the Khatam-un-Nabiyeen in various countries of the world and in their respective languages. Despite this, these people raise allegations that Ahmadis, God forbid, deny the [concept of] Khatm-e-Nubuwwat [finality of prophethood]. The Promised Messiah (as) has taught us such understanding and comprehension of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat, which these people who claim to be the custodians of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat, cannot even come close to. The Promised Messiah (as) said in one gathering, “It should also be remembered that the allegation that is raised against me and my Jama’at, that we do not believe the Holy Prophet (sa) to be Khatam-un-Nabiyeen is a grave fabrication against us. The conviction, comprehension and insight, with which we believe the Holy Prophet (sa) to be Khatam-un-Nabiyeen, others do not even believe in the smallest fraction thereof, nor are they capable of doing so.”’

The Fifth Caliph and Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba)

Shaikh al-Albani, the famous Ahle Hadith scholar also accept that Ahmadi Muslims do not deny the Holy Prophet (as) as the Seal of Prophets. He stated:

هم لاينكرون أنه خاتمالنبيين

They [Ahmadi Muslims] do not reject that he [Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa)] was the Seal of Prophets.’[3]

هل أنكرواقوله تعالى ولكن رسول الله وخاتم النبيين؟ لا. لأنه أي مسلم إذاأنكرآيةمن القرآن كفربالله ورسوله

Do they reject the statement of Allah, “Rather, he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of all Prophets”? No. Because any Muslim who rejects a verse of the Qur’an, rejects Allah and His Messenger.[4]

He said:

الأحمدية) ماأنكرواالآية، آمنوامعنابالآيةولكن تأولوها)

Ahmadiyya do not reject the verses. They believe in the verses like us but they interpret them.[5]

On another occasion he said:

لم يكفرهؤلاءالقاديانيون بقوله تعالى:وَلَكِنْ رَسُولَ اللهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ ۔ الأحزاب: 40۔  بل آمنوابالآيةكمانؤمن، كذلك لم ينكرواقول النبيﷺماجاءفي الصحيحين عن النبيﷺ

The al-Qadiyaniyyah do not reject the statement of the Allah, “Rather he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of all Prophets” (Surah al-Ahzab, verse 40); rather, they believe in the verses as we believe. Just like this, they do not deny the statement of the Holy Prophet(sa) which comes in the authentic narrations.[6]

The real difference between us and the other Muslims is not in the matter of the seal of Prophethood. It is on the death of Jesus (as). The majority ofMuslims await a prophet till today and say that the latter-day Messiah will come for the revival of Islam, as a prophet after the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa). We say that this Messiah prophesied is Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) of Qadian, and the Messiah of Bani Israel (Children of Israel) has died as per the Qur’an and Ahadith [sayings of the Holy Prophet (sa)] and will never return.
