International Waqf-e-Nau Refresher Course for National Secretaries

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (aba) delivered an address at the first International Waqf-e-Nau Refresher Course for National Secretaries, held at the Masroor Hall at Islamabad, Tilford, UK on Saturday 7th December 2019. A brief summary of this address is presented below:

His Holiness began by saying that it is with the grace of Allah that the first international Waqf-e-Nau Refresher Course for National Secretaries has been held and reminded the attendees of the great importance and significance of the Waqf-e-Nau scheme.

He explained that it was established in the time of the Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV (rh) with the purpose of preparing as many Waqifeen, before they are born, in order to help serve the cause of the Community in its various objectives.

His Holiness mentioned that the secretaries have been given an important responsibility in the moral, physical and spiritual upbringing of the Waqf-e-Nau children. They must guide them constantly in order for them to grow into beneficial members of the Community and in helping propagate the message of Islam.

He then said that with the grace of Allah we have been able to establish Jamias around the world to help facilitate this, but the Community requires more Waqifeen to join these institutes and serve as missionaries.

His Holiness reiterated that the foremost task is to assess whether the secretaries themselves have the required level in their righteousness and in their moral and spiritual state before they can guide others. They should see if they are offering the 5 daily prayers as is prescribed, whether they are serving the Community as best they can and whether they are bowing down and prostrating to seek the help of Allah. He underlined that without prayer, nothing can be achieved.

The Caliph then stated that each secretary should recognise that they have been placed in a position of great trust, and they should pay heed to the fact that the Caliph has granted their approval with the hope and expectation that they will work with the highest moral values at all times, as they discharge their duties. Hence, they should not take the responsibility lightly.

He also mentioned that there should be stimulating programs organised and the Waqifeen-e-Nau should be trained from a young age, to impress the fact it is not a mere title, but a duty and a life-long sacrifice. If they are successful in instilling these values, only then will the Waqifeen-e-Nau truly understand the dedication they and their parents have made and they will come to realise that in reality, they are life-devotees.

His Holiness emphasised that it is of utmost importance to set personal examples so the secretaries must practice what they preach, make real sacrifices for the sake of the faith, sacrifice regular time for the sake of the Community, be regular in offering 5 daily prayers and the Tahajjud prayer and seek help and forgiveness of Allah.

He then quoted the Promised Messiah (as) who stated that even when a person is engaged in worldly affairs, they should always keep God Almighty in mind and maintain the faith as their priority.

His Holiness explained that the secretaries must instil a spirit of complete loyalty to the Community and to the Caliph. Furthermore, they should remind parents to remain sincere to God Almighty and to set an example for their children. They should strengthen their bond with God Almighty, only then will the Community be able to raise a spiritual army, to not fight, but to advance the cause of peace.

His Holiness reminded that all should listen to the sermon delivered in October 2016 in Canada by the name Essence of Waqf-e-Nau and note down the characteristics and qualities which set apart a Waqifeen-e-Nau and make them special.

His Holiness mentioned that by grace of Allah, Dr Abdus Salam reached the pinnacle in his field of science, but he never forgot his duties to God Almighty. He studied the Holy Quran daily which helped him in attaining the success in his line of work. Therefore, one cannot make the excuse that they do not have time for their faith.

Finally, His Holiness prayed that may Allah Almighty enable all the secretaries to understand their duties and responsibilities and to guide the Waqifeen-e-Nau to grow into valuable assets to the Community and in fulfilling the grand mission of the Promised Messiah (as).
