One of the essential duties of Lajna Ima’illah [women’s auxiliary organisation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community] is to organize several events and gatherings throughout the year. Various programs are scheduled, sometimes for all Lajna members and at others for specific age groups. As such, during the time I served as President of Lajna, Lajna members have had several opportunities to witness the presence of Allah the Almighty, through the prayers of our Khalifa (aba) [the Caliph].

Before any forthcoming event, a letter is sent to beloved Huzoor [His Holiness (aba)] requesting prayers for the event’s success. One striking fact is that all events in which requests for prayers are sent prove remarkably successful, and peace and happiness can be felt in the atmosphere.

We have also learned from times in which letters were not sent to our beloved Imam. Experience has shown that whenever a request for prayers for an upcoming event was not sent—despite all our efforts—the event would not be as successful.

One such extraordinary incident took place in December 2018, whereby a picnic to Belle Mare beach had been scheduled, and Biryani [a mixed rice dish] had been prepared for the 450 members as refreshment.

A few days before the event, it started to rain, and the rain became torrential. Lajna members from all over the Island began to send messages, requesting the event to be postponed. I told them we would all pray and put our trust in Allah the Almighty. At Belle Mare, the preparations were well underway. There were puddles everywhere, but the program remained scheduled. A letter requesting prayers was sent to beloved Huzoor (aba).

On the day of the event, we woke up with the sun shining and a blue sky. The Sadr [Local President] of Majlis Triolet of the time, who was coming from the north of the island accompanied by several Lajna members, narrated that it started raining as they approached Belle-Mare. They all fervently began to pray, and soon the sun began to shine. On that day, we were all full of praise to Allah Almighty.  We thanked Allah for the bright and beautiful day, for allowing us to witness His might firsthand.

In the same way, Lajna Ima’illah organized a Tabligh Class on 26 January 2019. A tropical depression was fast approaching Mauritius, and the weather was deteriorating. Again, instead of postponing the event, a request of prayer was sent to Beloved Huzur (aba), and we all prayed. By the Grace of Allah, once again, we witnessed good weather on the day of the event!

In March of 2020, a Jalsa [convention] was held in commemoration of the Promised Messiah (as). This program was held before Mauritius was placed in lockdown due to the spread of COVID-19. Although torrential rain had again caused great concern, we decided that the program would continue as scheduled. A letter was sent to beloved Huzoor (aba) requesting prayers. Although it rained during the program—while members were safely within the four walls of our Masjid—no weather disturbance occurred before or after the program, with the grace of God Almighty.

One final faith-inspiring incident which I would like to relate occurred when Lajna Ima’illah organized a trekking trip in the South of the Island at Rivieres des Anguilles. As usual, a request for prayers was sent to beloved Huzoor (aba). The Nasir [member of the auxiliary organisation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for men over the age of forty] who planned the event informed me that, on the eve of the event, he had surveyed the trekking area. The rivers had overflowed on the banks, and a non-Ahmadi man, who accompanied him, suggested that it would be advisable to postpone the event. The Nasir calmly told him that everything would be fine tomorrow because this has always been the case with this particular group of people. All praise belongs to Allah; that was indeed the case!

Speaking on acceptance of prayers, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi, writes:

Malfuzat Volume 9, pg 234

‘Sometimes, a prayer is not accepted at first. At such occasions, that prayer may be accepted by asking a pious person to supplicate and at the same time, one should pray that God Almighty accepts that pious person’s supplication. It has been observed countless times that prayer is accepted in this manner.’ [1]

As divinely chosen successors to the Promised Messiah (as), our Khulafa [Caliphs] are bestowed a unique and exalted status of piety. Of the numerous ways Allah chooses to manifest Himself, one such way is through the acceptance of the prayers of His chosen Khalifa [Caliph]. These anecdotes bear testimony to the powerful and unequivocal ways our beloved Khalifa’s (aba) prayers have been accepted, and this is proof enough of Allah Almighty’s existence.

His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba), the fifth successor to the Promised Messiah (as) and the current worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

I feel that Allah especially hears prayers of the helpers of the religion of the Holy Prophet (sa). Above all, the prayer of our Khalifa is one of our most powerful tools!
