Experiencing God

The Case of the Missing Mercedes and Proof of a Living God

Mohammed Sbahuddin Rafiuddin, UK

In May 2020, my car was stolen from my driveway in broad daylight. The thieves were well-trained criminals who did not leave a single trace of their identities. The police said that it would be next to impossible that the car would ever be found, particularly due to the fact that it had no tracking system in it. Their exact words were, ‘The best thing you can do now, Mohammed, is just forget about the car.’

That same night, in a dream, I saw that my car would not only be found but also returned back to me. When I woke, I hurriedly shared this dream with my immediate family members, saying, ‘Allah has told me that the car will be found and will be returned.’ My family was amazed at my complete certainty that the car would be found — especially since the car had no tracking system. I continued to firmly reassure them: ‘Allah has told me, and it will happen.’

For the next four months, I called the police every few weeks to get an update about the car. The police constable in-charge only kept repeating his previous words: ‘Just forget about the car.’ I thought to myself, how could I forget, when Allah had shown me that it would be found and returned to me? I did not let the constable’s words shake my conviction.

Then, a random Tuesday afternoon — four months after the car was stolen — I got a phone call. ‘You are not going to believe what I am about to tell you.’ It was the voice of that same police constable in-charge. I smiled and said ‘Alhamdolillah’ (all praise belongs to Allah). What the police constable did not know was that, in my dream from four months prior, Allah Almighty had already shown me that this exact conversation would take place and that this exact situation would occur. The police constable continued, saying, ‘Your car has been found in Montenegro. It was involved in criminal activities in Montenegro, and the local police in Montenegro have contacted us. We are arranging for the car to be brought back to Watford to you.’

Tears filled my eyes. Not because of the car, but because of how, despite all odds, the promise of Allah the Almighty had come true. The car was retrieved — not from the United Kingdom, but from a rural village in Montenegro, 1,479 miles away from my home — and brought back to me in Watford, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. What could’ve been less likely? But Allah’s promise is true, and Allah certainly has power over all things.

This incident, along with countless others, has shown me the existence of a Living God and has turned my faith in Allah into absolute certainty — what the Promised Messiah Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be upon him, describes as Haq ul Yaqeen. These incidents have cemented my belief in the existence of a Living God — a God who not only hears the prayers of His supplicants but also responds. It is just as Allah Almighty, Himself, says:

And when My servants ask thee about Me, say: ‘I am near. I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he prays to Me. So they should hearken to Me and believe in Me, that they may follow the right way.’ (The Holy Qur’an, 2:187)

How could a car be retrieved from over a thousand miles away, without the means of a tracking system, four months after it was stolen, when the expert police had firmly assured me that it was virtually impossible for it to ever be found? Such is the Power of Allah, for Whom nothing is impossible. This is the Everliving God of Islam.
